Chapter 18:

Apology 2

However, Sharon Yao still didn’t respond. Her eyes were dull and lifeless, as if she had lost all vitality.

Seeing this, Shane Yu frowned even more. He didn’t understand why she was always unwilling to cooperate with him. Did she still have feelings for someone else? Thinking of this, his face darkened.

“Are you still thinking about that Chris He? What’s so great about him that makes you so hung up on him!” Shane Yu angrily questioned Sharon Yao. He couldn’t bear her still being hung up on another man; it hurt his pride.

Sharon Yao was startled by Shane Yu’s outburst. She looked up at him, then lowered her head again, unwilling to meet his gaze.

“At least he wouldn’t force me like you do, wouldn’t do those disgusting things to me…” Sharon Yao muttered softly. Her voice was low, almost inaudible, but Shane Yu heard it clearly.

Upon hearing this, Shane Yu couldn’t help but laugh. He thought Sharon Yao was incredibly naive. He coldly chuckled, “You really think he’s some kind of gentleman? Let me tell you, it’s not that he doesn’t want to, it’s that he’s afraid. Men are all the same, no difference.” Sharon Yao silently lowered her head, saying nothing more. She was utterly exhausted, unable to argue with Shane Yu any longer.

“I don’t want to argue with you. That’s it. Whatever you say, I’ll listen to you from now on, okay?” Sharon Yao sighed helplessly. She knew that arguing with Shane Yu was pointless; it would only cause her more pain.

Shane Yu’s anger grew even stronger. He couldn’t bring himself to hit Sharon Yao. He turned and stormed out of the room, then kicked the nearby trash can hard, knocking it over and scattering trash everywhere.

“Why did you kick my trash can when you were angry?” Grace Liu complained, looking at the displeased Shane Yu. Grace Liu was Ian Shen’s wife; they were high school classmates.

Shane Yu remained silent, annoyed, and reached for his lighter to light a cigarette.

“Smoking isn’t allowed here,” Grace Liu said, frowning, her tone tinged with displeasure.

Shane Yu’s frown deepened, but he still lit the cigarette, took a deep drag, and slowly exhaled the smoke. “There are no outsiders here. Don’t talk to me when you’re upset.”

Grace Liu looked at the man before her, her dissatisfaction growing. She couldn’t help but complain inwardly: He’s ruined such a nice young girl. She couldn’t understand how she could be friends with someone like this! Shane Yu wasn’t like this before; everything changed after he got money.

Not long after, Ian Shen arrived in a hurry.

“Brother Yu, you just left me like this?”

Shane Yu glanced at Ian Shen but didn’t speak.

“Brother Yu, after you left, that little boy kept crying his eyes out. Isn’t what you did…” Ian Shen was cut off from his words by Shane Yu’s fierce gaze.

A hint of impatience flashed in Shane Yu’s eyes. Having come this far, he never hesitated; he only went all the way.

Grace Liu came out of the room, gently taking her husband Ian Shen’s hand, comforting him, “Shane Yu just had a fight with that girl. He’s in a bad mood. Let him have some peace and quiet.”

Shane Yu sat alone in the corner, silently smoking, his mood extremely low. He stared quietly at the cigarette in his hand, as if deep in thought.

He had many women, all consensual relationships. This was the first time he had lost control. He just couldn’t let go of Sharon Yao. Her face and figure filled his mind; he just wanted to keep her by his side.

He was certain he deeply loved Sharon Yao; his heart was filled with love for her. However, he also found himself somewhat reluctant to speak to her, many of his words merely a form of intimidation rather than a genuine desire to hurt her.

He didn’t want to see her weep, because when she cried, he felt not impatience, but endless sorrow and heartache.

Shane Yu wanted Sharon Yao to stay by his side willingly, not just for physical possession. He craved her heart; that was his true goal. This desire stemmed from his deep-seated conquering instinct, but more importantly, he genuinely loved her.

Unconsciously, Shane Yu had smoked many cigarettes, the entire room filled with thick smoke, the pungent smell permeating every corner.

He stood up and slowly walked towards the bedroom. Pushing open the door, he saw Sharon Yao lying quietly on the bed, covered by a blanket, yet her graceful figure was still discernible.

Her fair skin was as delicate as jade, with a slight blush; her eyes were red and swollen from crying, like ripe peaches, evoking a feeling of tenderness and affection. Shane Yu sat down on the bedside, gently stroking Sharon Yao’s cheek, his eyes filled with tenderness.

“Baby, don’t cry, you won’t look pretty if you cry anymore,” he said softly, his tone tinged with a mixture of affection and helplessness.

Sharon Yao looked up at Shane Yu, her eyes brimming with tears, and asked in a slightly hoarse voice, “Will you still be so mean to me?”

Shane Yu’s heart softened, and he quickly replied, “I’ll be gentler with you from now on. But you have to promise me you’ll try to avoid contact with men, okay?”

Sharon Yao looked at him and nodded firmly. “Okay!”

Shane Yu’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. He reached out and gently pulled Sharon Yao into his arms, holding her tightly.
