As soon as I got home, I rushed to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Recalling the scene of Shane Yu hugging and kissing me in the car, I felt extremely uncomfortable.
That feeling made me feel uneasy, even a little nauseous. Actually, I was physically averse to physical intimacy with Shane Yu, but due to a deep-seated fear, I simply couldn’t refuse him.
I took off my ring and placed it in a hidden corner, as if it were a secret between us that couldn’t be revealed. Perhaps our relationship was destined to remain hidden in the darkness, never to be illuminated by the sun.
…Me, Snow Chen, and my new friend—Charlotte Wang. She has a pretty and elegant appearance and a very lively personality. Her family mainly deals in real estate projects.
We sat together on the grass. I was lost in thought, while the two of them watched the boys play basketball.
Snow Chen was very fond of the school’s heartthrob, Felix Xu. He was a tall boy with long, jet-black hair, his eyes sparkling when he smiled, and his lips curving upwards to reveal his white teeth. Felix Xu comes from a military family.
Felix Xu’s appearance reminds me of Chris He—both are handsome, clean-cut, and gentle. Thinking of him makes my heart ache.
Charlotte Wang likes Tank Gu. His features are sharp and defined, with a fierce edge and piercing eyes, like a roguish Taiwanese celebrity. She likes him but doesn’t dare confess. Rumor has it that Tank Gu is extremely averse to women, so she can only silently watch him play basketball.
However, Tank Gu’s friend Simon Hu often smiles at Charlotte Wang. After they finish playing basketball, Snow Chen blushes and hands Felix Xu a bottle of water. Felix Xu takes it and says, “Thank you!”
Snow Chen gets excited for a long time afterward!
“Look how excited you are! Go confess!” I encourage Snow Chen.
“I’m planning,” Snow Chen says, blushing.
Charlotte Wang pouted, “I’d be content just to talk to Tank Gu anytime.”
“Look at you!” I teased Charlotte Wang, shoving her gently.
But just then, Charlotte Wang suddenly turned around, her eyes filled with curiosity, and asked, “Sharon, what about you? Do you have someone you like?”
Hearing this question, a ripple of emotion stirred within me. The familiar and warm figure of Chris He flashed into my mind.
So, without hesitation, I nodded and answered, “Yes, I do.” Snow Chen, seeing this, also crowded around, eagerly asking, “Wow, Sharon, tell us, who is he? Is he handsome?”
Faced with their curiosity, I smiled slightly, lost in memories of the good old days, recalling every moment spent with Chris He.
Just as I was immersed in these memories, suddenly, a basketball flew towards me like a cannonball. Caught off guard, I was hit hard, losing my balance and falling to the ground.
“Ouch! That hurts!” The sharp pain made me wince.
Just then, a cold voice came from afar: “Throw the ball over here.” It was Tank Gu, who looked at us expressionlessly, seemingly unconcerned about what had just happened.
Felix Xu looked over and said, “Tank, you hit someone.”
Felix Xu then walked towards us and reached out to help me up.
However, Snow Chen was faster, immediately helping me up and anxiously checking if I was injured.
A hint of apology flashed in Felix Xu’s eyes as he gently said, “Are you alright, classmate? I’m so sorry!” His tone was sincere and polite, revealing his good upbringing.
In contrast, Tank Gu, who had actually hit someone, seemed completely indifferent. He stood there, an impatient expression on his face, as if it were none of his business.
I couldn’t help but wonder if he did it on purpose, to get revenge for the day I deceived him.
I stood up, brushing the dust off my clothes. I said coldly, “I’m fine, and you didn’t hit me, no need to apologize.”
Then I turned and left.
Charlotte Wang smiled and picked up the basketball, tossing it back to Tank Gu.
“I’m going to check on her,” Snow Chen said gently, smiling at Felix Xu.
She then chased after me.
“Sharon Yao, are you upset?” Snow Chen asked.
I asked doubtfully, “Do you think Tank Gu did it on purpose?”
“I can’t be, he’s not even close to you,” Snow Chen said.
I told Snow Chen about seeing him fight someone at his school and how I intervened.
Snow Chen looked shocked. “Sharon, I really admire you. Tank Gu hit someone, and you dared to intervene.”
“I didn’t even know him at the time! Besides, he hit Chris He, of course I had to intervene!”
“So, Sharon, the person you like is named Chris He?” Snow Chen asked.
“I guess so! But we’ve broken up, and there’s no future for us.” A bitter sadness welled up in my voice.
…Shane Yu and Ian Shen went out of town to expand their company’s business.
After finishing their business, General Manager Rong led Shane Yu and Ian Shen to the VIP section to watch a horse race.
General Manager Rong smiled politely as he watched Shane Yu gesture the number 2. Shane Yu looked at him and laughed heartily.
He looked at the racetrack before him, and the starting gun fired, the race began. Watching the meticulously trained horses, none could beat the slender number 2 horse.
“This round is good!” Shane Yu cheered inwardly.
Ian Shen watched the race, then smiled knowingly at Shane Yu.
“This round, we’ve achieved our small goal!”
Shane Yu smiled and nodded, then leaned close to Ian Shen’s ear and said, “Take 80% of the winnings and give it back to General Manager Rong.”
Ian Shen nodded, understanding.
Shane Yu looked at the time; it was noon. He thought about calling Sharon Yao.
Sharon Yao’s sweet voice came through the phone: “Hello!” A smile played on Shane Yu’s lips, the kind of smile that comes with being in love. “Did you miss me?”
“Yes, I did!” Sharon Yao replied.
“I’ve been away from Shengcheng these past few days, and I really missed you! I’ll pick you up from your school Friday night.” Shane Yu’s voice held a hint of anticipation.
“Okay!” Sharon Yao said softly.
Shane Yu’s mood brightened even more. “What do you want to eat? I’ll book a restaurant in advance.”
“Anything is fine with me!” Sharon Yao responded.
“Then let’s tentatively order French food. Be a good girl and wait for me to get back.” Shane Yu said affectionately.
“Okay.” Shane Yu put down his phone, his gaze returning to the racetrack. He secretly looked forward to Friday.
Sharon Yao always avoided being around people when answering Shane Yu’s calls; she always felt that their relationship was something secretive.
