Shane Yu had been very busy this week. We usually just talked on the phone and exchanged messages, and overall I was quite happy.
Until Thursday night, I had just finished showering at home.
My phone kept ringing. I glanced at it and saw the contact name was “Beast.”
I picked up the phone.
“Hello!”
Shane Yu’s voice came through the phone: “Come downstairs, I’m downstairs.”
I looked up at the time, 10:30. I thought to myself, this is too late.
“Isn’t it a bit late?”
“I’ll give you 10 minutes. If you don’t come down, I’m coming in.” Shane Yu’s threatening words came through the phone.
Autumn in Shengcheng is quite cold. I went downstairs wearing pink coral fleece pajamas, long cotton socks, and bunny slippers.
As soon as I got downstairs, I saw Shane Yu leaning against the car, smoking.
Shane Yu frowned at me. “What are you wearing?”
“Aren’t you in a hurry? I didn’t have time to change.” I replied.
He opened the car door, gesturing for me to get in, and I obediently sat down. As soon as I got in, the driver, ever observant, got out.
“We haven’t seen each other for so many days, have you missed me?” Shane Yu asked, looking at me.
“We talk on the phone every day!” I replied.
He immediately pulled me into his arms. “Why is it that you’re all I can think about! Did you put some kind of spell on me?”
I thought to myself: I don’t know magic. If I did, I’d prefer you stay away from me.
“No, I didn’t!” I replied casually.
“I’m going to Hong Kong tomorrow to discuss some projects. It’ll take four days. Do you want to come with me? I can help you ask the school for leave.” Shane Yu asked, looking at Sharon Yao’s delicate face.
“I…I can’t go. I can’t explain it to my family.” I refused directly, but I felt a little nervous and uneasy.
Shane Yu’s brow furrowed slightly, a hint of displeasure showing on his face. He felt a surge of annoyance when he heard Sharon Yao’s straightforward refusal.
Explain it to them? He secretly vowed to her that he would find out about their relationship with her family as soon as possible, and then see how she could hide it.
He chuckled twice, a cold smile curving his lips, his voice carrying a chill that sent a shiver down my spine.
After a moment, Shane Yu spoke again, “It’s fine if you don’t go. Do you have any other plans this weekend?” His tone seemed to test me.
I breathed a slight sigh of relief and answered truthfully, “My classmate Snow Chen wants to treat me to dinner, saying she wants to thank me for helping her the other day.”
Shane Yu’s eyes sharpened, staring intently at me, and pressed, “Any guys going?”
My heart tightened, but I still answered honestly, “Yes… Snow Chen’s boyfriend will be coming too.”
Shane Yu’s gaze grew even more piercing, as if trying to see through my thoughts.
“Give me your phone,” he said immediately, his tone leaving no room for argument.
I hesitated for a moment, then handed him my phone. Shane Yu took the phone and quickly scrolled through the messages. His brows furrowed, and his expression darkened.
“You saved my contact as ‘Beast’?” He asked, displeased, and lightly pinched my cheek—a light touch, but enough to convey his displeasure.
“I…I used that name before, and I haven’t changed it,” I said softly, head down.
“Sharon Yao, do you know I’m your man? Your husband, your everything! Why do you have to challenge my authority?” Shane Yu gripped my hand tightly, a hint of malice in his eyes, clearly very unhappy.
I felt my breath catch in my throat, too nervous to speak. “I…no, I was wrong, please don’t be angry, I’ll change it.” I tried to take my phone back, but he held on tightly.
He threw the phone in front of me, his eyes fixed on me, his face grim.
I quickly changed the contact name to “Shane Yu” in front of him, but his brows furrowed even deeper.
Shane Yu remained silent, leaning back slightly, a cold, enigmatic smile playing on his lips.
“It seems you’re not truly convinced, Sharon Yao. What do you think I should do with you?” His voice was icy and merciless, like a sharp blade piercing my heart.
“I…Shane Yu, please don’t be angry! I know I was wrong!” I apologized anxiously, the scene from the luxury cruise ship involuntarily flashing through my mind—when he was angry, I cried until my voice was hoarse, but he still wouldn’t let me go. Thinking of this, my body trembled slightly.
Shane Yu chuckled coldly, his voice unhurried yet authoritative: “You can apologize so easily now, but you’re not truly convinced, are you?”
“I really didn’t!” I stammered, my body shaking with emotion.
Shane Yu stared at me silently, his face grim.
Deep down, I was terrified of him. I didn’t know how to explain, and for a moment, I fell silent.
After a while, Shane Yu spoke in a serious and cold voice: “Go home!”
I didn’t hesitate, pushed open the car door, and got out.
Shane Yu watched me get out, without turning her head.
Did Sharon Yao not know how to coax a man? She could have easily snuggled in my arms, kissed me, provided some emotional support, and I would have forgiven her.
But now, it seemed Sharon Yao didn’t care about him, Shane Yu.
The driver got into the car.
“Old Xu, go to the boxing gym,” Shane Yu ordered angrily.
He needed to vent his anger. After finishing the company project, Shane Yu wanted to let Sharon Yao know that she would never have the chance to leave him.
Shane Yu didn’t finish boxing until 4 a.m., because as soon as he stopped, his mind was filled with the suspicion that Sharon Yao didn’t love him. It was too torturous. For the first time, he felt that loving someone was so tiring.
The next day on the plane, Assistant Liu watched his boss, Shane Yu, dozing off in first class.
The flight attendant thought Shane Yu was good-looking and had a good demeanor, but she didn’t even have a chance to strike up a conversation; he slept the entire flight.
Shane Yu didn’t contact me all day. He was angry with me, and I felt a sliver of relief—I just hoped he wouldn’t contact me at all.
I know he helped me, and I can be grateful, but not loving someone is simply not loving them. The beastly things he did were like sharp knives, leaving deep scars on my body and soul that will never be healed.
