Chapter 28:

Concern

On the bus.

Shane Yu looked at my injured face, her eyes filled with concern. “How did you get your face injured…”

“There were too many of them. Six of them ganged up on the three of us, and they started it,” I said angrily.

“Then tell me, why did you get into the fight?” Shane Yu asked, her eyes fixed on me.

“Because they were causing trouble for my deskmate. I couldn’t stand it, so she pushed me twice first, and then the fight started.”

“I didn’t expect you to be so loyal,” Shane Yu said, patting my head.

He then earnestly advised me, “Sharon Yao, you have to remember, fighting isn’t the only way to solve problems. Unless you’re 100% sure you can win, make sure you’re safe first. Don’t act impulsively; think of a solution immediately. Your safety is the most important thing to me!”

I listened to Shane Yu’s words and felt they made perfect sense, so I obediently nodded. “What was the name of the person who pushed you?”

I thought for a while, then stammered, “I think it was Zhao Yan.”

“Then leave the rest to me!” Shane Yu put his arm around my shoulder, patted me gently, and comforted me.

“Shane Yu, thank you so much for today!” I said, blushing, my face as red as a ripe apple, making one’s mouth water.

“Little girl, I’ve done so much for you. I was in the middle of the company’s annual meeting. Your advisor called me and said you got into a fight.”

“I anxiously asked her if Sharon Yao had been hit? Who dared to hit Sharon Yao? Your advisor hesitated and told me to come over. I was worried about you the whole way!”

“What about your company meeting?”

“I passed it on to Ian Shen. Mainly because you’re number one in my heart!”

Shane Yu hugged me tightly.

“Thank you so much!” I thanked him again!

“No need to thank me! Give me a kiss.” Shane Yu leaned in, a mischievous smile on his face.

I gently kissed Shane Yu’s cheek, my own blush deepening like a burning flame.

Shane Yu smiled contentedly, gazing at me tenderly, and said, “For you, I’d do anything!”

At the hospital, Shane Yu arranged a full-body checkup for me, fearing something might be wrong.

In the doctor’s office, Shane Yu handed the doctor ten thousand yuan in cash. The doctor repeatedly declined but finally accepted.

At the hospital, Shane Yu anxiously asked, “Doctor, how is her face?”

“Her face is fine. It will take a few days for the swelling to go down. I’ve already prescribed medication for her face. But…”

“But what?” Shane Yu asked, confused, his brows furrowing tightly.

“We found that she’s been taking birth control pills for a long time, which is very bad for her health. We suggest she consider other methods.”

Shane Yu replied grimly, “I understand.”

He continued, “For the injuries on her face, please get me a medical report!”

The doctor immediately wrote out the medical report Shane Yu requested.

Shane Yu returned from the doctor’s office, her face showing displeasure. He silently walked to the sofa by the hospital bed and sat down, gazing at me quietly with a complex emotion in his eyes.

“Sharon Yao, have you been taking birth control pills?” His voice was low and serious, seemingly tinged with reproach and worry.

My heart sank. I stammered, trying to explain, but couldn’t find the right words to express my inner turmoil. “I…” Shane Yu sighed deeply. He stood up, walked to my side, and gently stroked my hair.

His tone was full of self-reproach. “Birth control pills are very harmful to the body. I’ll use other methods from now on. You shouldn’t take them anymore.” I looked up, meeting his concerned gaze, and nodded gently, indicating my agreement with his decision.

Shane Yu continued, “Does your face still hurt?” His fingers gently touched my cheek, his eyes full of concern.

“It doesn’t hurt anymore. A nurse applied some medicine just now, and it’s much better!” I replied with a smile, hoping to reassure him.

Shane Yu nodded, then said, “I have some things to take care of at the company later. Would you like to rest at my villa, or would you like me to take you home?” I hesitated for a moment, then firmly replied, “I want to go home.” Shane Yu frowned slightly, seemingly not satisfied with the answer. But he respected my choice and said, “Alright then, I’ll take you home first. If you feel unwell after you get home, feel free to contact me.”

“Thank you!” I nodded gratefully, my heart filled with warmth. Although our relationship was complicated, at least in this moment, I felt Shane Yu’s care and consideration.

Shane Yu took out his phone and made a call.

A while later, the driver arrived at the hospital entrance.

Shane Yu carefully picked me up and carried me out of the hospital.

At the door, I got out of the car and thanked Shane Yu.

“Goodbye,” I said.

Shane Yu looked at me and nodded, a hint of reluctance flashing in his eyes.

I went inside and closed the door.

Leaning against the door, I breathed a sigh of relief.

After my facial injury healed, I returned to school. Zhao Yan and her five friends came to find me, Snow Chen, and Charlotte Wang, sincerely apologizing and hoping to reconcile privately.

I nodded and accepted their apologies. They said they hoped my uncle would forgive them too.

I replied, “I’ll talk to my uncle.”

“Sharon, your uncle is so handsome! And so amazing! The parents on the other side were all shut up the moment he appeared!” Charlotte Wang excitedly grabbed my hand.

“Yeah!” I nodded in response. “Are you two alright?” I changed the subject.

“I’m perfectly fine, this little injury is nothing,” Charlotte Wang said readily.

We both looked at Snow Chen, who was silent for a while before finally saying, “I’m fine too, thanks to you two.”

I looked at Snow Chen; her expression was somewhat downcast. I quickly asked, “What’s wrong? You don’t seem to be doing well?”

“I broke up with Felix Xu?” Snow Chen said, tears streaming down her face.

I asked, puzzled, “Why? You’ve only been together a few days.”

“I brought it up. Because of this, I feel so guilty towards you both, especially Sharon. She even got slapped for me. If I had hurt you, I would have felt guilty for the rest of my life,” Snow Chen cried, feeling incredibly guilty.

“Don’t cry,” I said, handing her a tissue. “You’re crying so hard, it breaks my heart.”

“You’re breaking up over something so small? All that beating and sacrifice from us is for nothing! You can’t break up, you have to get back together! Otherwise, all that beating was for nothing!” I said.

Snow Chen, still crying, was amused by my words.

“Yeah! Snow Chen, it’s rare that the person you like likes you back!” Charlotte Wang comforted Snow Chen.

“Stop crying,” I said, wiping away Snow Chen’s tears.

Just then, I saw Felix Xu, who had been watching Snow Chen in class, wanting to approach her but hesitating.

I pulled Snow Chen towards Felix Xu. “You two should have a good talk and make up!” He then patted Snow Chen on the shoulder, encouraging her.
