The elevator reached the basement level, and the doors slowly opened. Victor Mo strode out first, followed by Serena Li .
Victor Mo took his car keys out of his pocket.
Unlocked with the remote, the black Bentley in the distance already had its lights flashing.
Victor Mo turned to Serena Li and said, “Can you drive? I just had a little to drink.”
Serena Li initially thought he was just taking her downstairs to get her passport, but now, hearing what he said, it seemed he wanted her to be his driver.
Seeing that he didn’t intend to call a designated driver, Serena Li nodded, walked towards the driver’s side, opened the car door, and got in.
“Drive to your house first,” Victor Mo said after getting into the car and fastening his seatbelt.
Serena Li is a good driver, she doesn’t drive often and isn’t familiar with the routes, so she first turns on the navigation and searches for directions.
After leaving the parking lot, the Bentley drove into the wide street traffic.
The light ahead was red. Serena Li glanced at the man in the passenger seat; he was resting with his eyes closed, probably because he had been drinking.
He was dressed in a formal black suit, and today his shirt was also black. He looked slightly tired, but all the more profound.
After the green light came on, Serena Li drove onto the overpass and headed towards home.
The phone rang, and Victor Mo took out his cell phone from his pocket to answer it.
I don’t know what was said on the other end of the phone, but he simply said “hmm” and hung up.
After hanging up the phone, he looked at Serena Li and asked, “Do you rarely take this route?”
Serena Li explained, presumably because she felt she drove too slowly .
“Heh, it’s my honor to have you as my driver today!” Victor Mo glanced at her slender, pale hands resting on the steering wheel and smiled.
“I got to drive a luxury car thanks to you.” Serena Li didn’t notice his interested expression and was focused on driving, casually making small talk.
“Really?” Victor Mo’s lips curled slightly upon hearing this. But he could tell that her expression was calm; she wasn’t the type to have her eyes light up at the sight of a luxury car.
The two didn’t speak for the rest of the journey. When the car arrived at Four Seasons Garden, Serena Li pulled over to the side of the road, turned off the engine, unbuckled her seatbelt, and turned to Victor Mo , saying, “I’m here. How are you going to get back?”
Victor Mo took his passport from the ticket box in front of the passenger seat and handed it to Serena Li , saying, “My driver will be here in 10 minutes.” Then he opened the car door and got out, and Serena Li followed him out.
He stood outside the car, lit a cigarette, took a puff, put one hand in his pocket, pointed his long, slender fingers holding the cigarette at her passport, and asked, “Going to the US for a trip?”
“Yes, I just got my visa back last time and left my passport in your car. Thanks for driving me back today.” Serena Li said politely but distantly.
Victor Mo lowered his head, took a thoughtful drag on his cigarette, and nodded.
He looked up again, raised an eyebrow, and said to her, “Go inside.”
Serena Li thanked her again and then turned to enter the residential area.
Ten minutes later, a taxi stopped at the entrance of the residential area. As soon as the young man got out of the taxi, he respectfully said to the man standing next to the Bentley, “I’m sorry, Mr. Mo, I’m late.” As he spoke, he opened the back door of the car and let Victor Mo get in.
The driver went around to the front seat, glanced at the nearby residential area, and thought, “Isn’t this the place where Ms. Li lived last time?” He didn’t dare to say anything and drove away.
……
After the students finished filling out their college applications, Serena Li bought a plane ticket, packed her bags, and flew to the United States to see her father.
The father and daughter hadn’t seen each other for six months, and it was Serena Li’s first time in the US . Daniel Li specially adjusted his work schedule, taking a week off to spend time with her. Even though they didn’t go out and just cooked delicious food at home, Serena Li was very happy.
Her mother passed away from illness when she was 16. Although her father was later sent abroad on official business, he always gave her a lot of love, and the father and daughter had a very pleasant conversation.
A week later, her father got busy with his project again and couldn’t spend time with her, so she went sightseeing in the surrounding area by herself.
Happy times always pass quickly, and before they knew it, it was time for Serena Li to return home.
Daniel Li was very reluctant to part with her daughter, but she was too busy with the project to spend much time with her. However, she promised her daughter that she would try her best to come back to China to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with her this year.
